WorkSpace: Mark Vanness & Fellows

Mark Vanness has opened a gorgeous tattoo parlor in a beautifully renovated house across the street from Moore Square. Along with two other artists, Hayden Abernathy & Mike Blas with shop manager AJ Brooks, they have an impressive establishment. Mark was kind enough to let us look around as he worked on a client during a rare walk-in session. Let’s have a look….

The downstairs waiting area is wonderfully decorated with the eclectic and elegant artwork of Jessica Vanness, Mark’s wife. The mix of hardwoods, tall windows, vintage furniture and Jessica’s artwork sets an inspiring tone as you enter the establishment.

It feels like every corner of this place was thought-out and designed beautifully.

I didn’t get a chance to get a ton of detail shots in Mark’s room because I didn’t want to overly disturb the session more than I already was. In addition, the two other artists had not finished setting up their rooms which are adjacent and connected to Mark’s office. Leaving some things up to the imagination is fine because you’ll want to check this place out for yourself.

Make sure and mark those calendar for First Friday August. They have a nice art gallery space that they will be showcasing every month so even if you aren’t stopping by for ink you can check out some paint. They shop is a work of art in itself. They are open for business so swing by, check it out and book some time to get that piece you always wanted. You won’t regret it.
