Sign Scientist Dawood Relm-One

In 1985, a young boy from Boston was beginning a life-long love affair with style. It was at this point in young Dawood’s life that graffiti became a massive influence and unbeknownst to him, this admiration of graffiti writers like Sly, Wombat, Sick, Target and SPone would ultimately lead him to running his own professional sign painting and printing business called Sign Scientist here in Raleigh .03-Dawwod x Oak City Hustle_17What seems to be a logical path—graffiti painting to sign painting—is actually quite unique in the graffiti community.  It is rare to encounter an artist who manages to carve a path from the creative expression he holds a passion for and lean it into a successful small business. Dawood has been providing professional sign painting and printing services since 1998 when he began hand painting fluorescent storefront advertisements for car dealers and fast food joints. His business has since grown to provide vehicle wraps, banners, and print media. Never loosing focus, Dawood still finds creative inspiration from his memories of watching graffiti roll by on the rail tracks in Central Sq. however he is firmly grounded as a family man. Dawood optimistically looks to the future, “Later in life, when money isn’t so much of an issue, I’m going on lots of spraycations… and I’ll probably take my kids!”

Hey Dawood? Can we tag along?
