We all, at some point in our lives, have tried to please others and live up to society’s expectations. You see it all the time in social media, within family /friends and in the workplace. I say it’s a lot easier in doing your own thing. – Be what you are!
This week’s episode focuses on what I refer to as the “CHOP”! I find it too easy to sample a loop, add drums and bass line and then be finished. My favorite technique involves dissecting the song into bits and pieces and turn it to a new creation.
I found this record at Edward McKay’s in Raleigh, NC on Capital Blvd. Daryl Hall & John Oates’ (also known as Hall & Oates) 1976 album Bigger Than Both of Us is a masterpiece. Epecially the song “Do What You Want, Be What You Are”.
