Last Thursday a very thankful, Justin LeBlanc, greeted guests under the shades of CAMʼs latest rainbow installation by Gabriel Dawe. The crowd was a mixture of friends, family and fans, all happy to see LeBlancʼs success. Before the show started he spent several minutes saying “thank you” to all that made the event possible. His words were heart felt and very humble, especially for someone who has come so far. He values his “roots” and took time to show his appreciation to all those who have been apart of his journey.
LeBlanc, who has been deaf since birth, based the featured collection on his 2012 thesis entitled “Inaudible,” where he allowed the audience to experience his version of hearing.
“I hear myself underwater” LeBlanc said as he described the inspiration for the 2015 Spring/Summer Collection.
While sonars whistled in the background, models emerged one by one. Elbows: Back / Walk: Strong
White fabric flowed beautifully, as if in slow motion, while each model made their way around the crowd.
LeBlanc presented dresses with high slits, open backs, a fantastic belted jumper, bubble patterned tops, a fish scaled beaded skirt and lots of tall white platforms.
LeBlanc used photoshop to create a bubble pattern that was later printed on fabric and used in several of the garments.
