Artie Barksdale has been painting since his childhood years growing up in Newark, NJ. Things got serious when he first discovered graffiti which kept him very busy as a young adult. After attending the NC School of Arts in 1998 and studying theatrical scene painting and set design he began painting residential and commercial murals through 2000. Artie discovered camouflage as a medium sometime in 2009 after noticing a peeling and fading vinyl camouflage wrap and thinking to himself, “hey I can paint that!” After trying it on a few trucks he was fully hooked and started pursuing hand painted camouflage as a business. Artie doesn’t consider himself a hunter but the hunting industry is baked into his technique and style. To this day Artie continues to run a successful, interior design & hand-painted camouflage business called Big A Camo out of Concord, NC. In addition to Artie’s hand-painted camo you can check out his other forms of artistic expression on his website, ArtieBarksdale.com.
